After cashing Monday’s no run first inning bet with ease, we’re going for back-to-back NRFI bet wins here on Tuesday, and we’re putting our coin on the Athletics-Giants NRFI.
This might be a slightly overlooked NRFI bet today, with other options like Mariners-Red Sox, Cubs-Reds and maybe even Guardians-Tigers. And we’re getting some sick value at -110 because of it (and you got it at -105 last night if you’re an OddsShopper Discord member).
Robbie Ray is getting his second start of 2024 for the Giants, and while he didn’t cash the NRFI in his last outing, he did look GREAT. He went five innings, allowed ZERO hits and somehow gave up a run while striking out eight Dodgers. So there’s no doubt in my mind the stuff was good; he just got a tad unlucky.
Tonight against the A’s, he’s getting to start at home in Oracle Park and the projected total is only 7.5 runs, so oddsmakers aren’t expecting a ton of offense in general, which is a good sign.
Yes, the A’s bats have been better of late, but they still have a 24% strikeout rate against left-handed pitchers this season, so they still have their warts.
And on the other side, we have JP Sears, who is 14-7 on NRFI bets in 2024 and is seeing the majority of these Giants hitters for the first time in his career.
The Giants also strikeout at a 23% clip against lefties this season and just lost one of their best bats against southpaws as Jorge Soler was traded back to the Braves. So losing arguably their best hitter is nothing but a boost to Sears’ case here.
We’ll trust the linemakers and follow the low total here to cash the A’s-Gants NRFI bet today.
