White Sox starter Michael Kopech has fully reined in whatever ailed him at the start of the season. His ERA is not down to 4.03 after pushing it up in the 7.00 range early on, and he has struck out at least nine in four of his last five starts while also staying under three earned runs in five of six. That said, OddsShopper loves this spot for Mariners slugger Jarred Kelenic against Kopech tonight.
Kelenic has never faced Kopech before and has cooled off a bit since his hot April start, but he still has at least one hit in half his games this month and in 69.8% of games on the season. Plus, his numbers are slightly better at home, with a batting average about 40 points higher than his road average and a slugging over 100 points higher. Kopech’s return to form has also come over a five-start stretch in which he pitched just one road game, and he has not pitched away from Guaranteed Rate Field since May 24. His home/away splits are not too different, but Kopech is a marginally worse pitcher on the road, so this is a gettable spot for Kelenic as he faces a relatively low line of 0.5 total bases.
