Nikola Jokic to Record a Triple-Double (-110 on DraftKings)
In what has become a nightly feature of my betting card, Nikola Jokic triple-double bets are the gift that keeps on giving. In fact, over the past month, Jokic has accomplished the feat in every single home game. Let me repeat that: Jokic has a triple-double in all seven home games over the past month. Was it a lot more fun getting plus money in the +150 to +175 range and converting those at an absurd clip? Sure, but this line at -110 on DraftKings is still inefficient.
Dallas does play at the second-slowest pace in the NBA but sits 22nd on the season in adjusted defensive rating. They also disposed of a defensive asset in Dorian Finney-Smith at the deadline, which further bolsters Denver’s offensive projection here. Add in Jokic’s 19.3% rebounding rate and 41% assist rate will be featured at home in a competitive spot, and this line should be floating north of the -135 range. But since it’s not, it’s my favorite prop bet of the day by a decent margin.
Detroit Pistons +12 vs. Boston Celtics (-108 on FanDuel)
Great job, great effort by the Boston media, as Jayson Tatum was announced as out for Tuesday and Wednesday, only to be ruled in from the clouds this morning. That shot this line up to +12 in an instant, which grades out as a bit of an overcorrection. The Pistons are not a good basketball team by any means, but they have had the second-most difficult strength of schedule so far this season. The Celtics are 12th easiest.
Boston also participated in an overtime thriller in Milwaukee on Tuesday night, so a number of their core pieces were forced into more minutes than normal. And Robert Williams III, who was limited to just 13 minutes yesterday, is listed as questionable for Wednesday’s tilt. So while the Celtics get a rested Tatum and Al Horford back into the mix, no Williams would be an obvious defensive downgrade. Assuming he’s out, a 12-point spread grades out as excessive, making me interested in backing the biggest dog on the slate in the Pistons.
