Conner Weigman Injury Update
The Texas A&M Aggies got a scare on Saturday when starting quarterback Conner Weigman went down with an ankle injury. He was seen hobbling to the locker room after the injury and did not return to the game. Before his early exit, Weigman had completed 57.1% of his es for 70 yards and no scores.
The good news for A&M fans is that Weigman’s X-rays came back negative, per head coach Jimbo Fisher. This means that Weigman is at least questionable for Week 5’s game against Arkansas, but it’s not guaranteed that he’ll play. His limp looked pretty bad on Saturday, and we’ll have to see whether he practices this week.
Is Conner Weigman Playing for Texas A&M Against Arkansas?
So is Conner Weigman playing against Arkansas this week? We don’t know for sure, and we probably won’t know until close to kickoff. Weigman’s injury matters because despite Texas A&M’s disappointing record, he is having a solid season. The quarterback ranks 33rd in ing efficiency with a 156.8 through four games.

Expect Jimbo Fisher to approach Weigman’s injury with caution. Although he isn’t a dual-threat quarterback, Weigman is mobile in the pocket and has picked up 63 yards and two scores on 12 rushing attempts this year. If Weigman can’t be as mobile as he usually is on Saturday, don’t be surprised if Fisher turns to the backup, especially since that backup led Texas A&M to a win last week.
Weigman’s backup, Max Johnson, is a solid replacement. Johnson has a career ing efficiency grade of 142.3 through four seasons and 625 ing attempts. Johnson has been solid in limited action this year, including last week against Auburn — he completed 63.6% of his es for 123 yards and two scores, scoring a career-best 217.6 in ing efficiency in the win.
