The fact remains that Hurts has multiple options in ways he can score, all on the ground, but still he’s as dangerous as any running back — especially in this game, where it’s not the best matchup for D’Andre Swift despite this Eagles offensive line. Hurts can hit the Cowboys defense for long gains. He’s proven the ability to turn a scamper or scramble into a score. The Eagles fully trust him to run the ball again, as he was dealing with a knee injury over the past few weeks. There’s also the “Tush Push” or “Brotherly Shove” which is a staple on the goal line. The Eagles are one of the worst teams in defensive EPA in the entire league. They live, feast or famine, off the rush. They used to lock down the run, but even that is in question. Of all the things the Eagles struggle with, it’s defending the tight end position that kills them. They got lucky with Travis Kelce dropping a bunch of balls but were recently exposed again by George Kittle. Jake Ferguson got the better of the Eagles in the first game, and the Cowboys tight end should repeat another strong performance. He’s scored in four of his last six games, so clearly he is a favorite target for Prescott near the end zone. Back to the Eagles — they are one of the worst teams in both giving up scores to tight ends and quarterback rating throwing to the position. There’s absolutely zero reason to think the Eagles have suddenly figured out how to defend the tight end. Ferguson has tremendous value sitting at 10-1 to score first.
