Expert NFL Week 5 Bets | Falcons Bet & Dolphins Bet

Texans (+1.5) @ Falcons (41)

This feels like a come back down to earth spot for the Texans. They’re coming off two straight blowout wins while the Falcons are on the heels of consecutive ugly losses, but this game sets up nicely for Atlanta.

Despite holding the Steelers to only six points and the Jaguars to 17, Houston still has some significant holes on defense, most noticeably on the ground. If Atlanta can control time of possession and run the ball effectively—there’s no reason they can’t—they should be able to steal a win at home and cover the 1.5 points.

Eventually, the injuries to Houston’s offensive line will catch up to them, and although C.J. Stroud has been excellent thus far, I don’t think it’s sensible to assume this Texans team is just going to run through opponents for the rest of the season.

The plan for Atlanta should be to keep the ball out of Desmond Ridder’s hands and in the possession of Bijan Robinson as much as possible. That shouldn’t be a problem against this Texans run defense. So long as they don’t fall behind early, Atlanta should be able to win this game on the ground

Giants (+12.5) @ Dolphins (47.5)

This is one of those games where the floodgates could open and Miami scores 40 points. We saw in week 3 vs. the Broncos that Mike McDaniel has no problem keeping his foot on the gas despite a game being well out of hand, and with the Dolphins coming off a bad loss to a division rival in the Bills, the week 5 bounce back effort could be epic.

Miami will be without Terron Armstead on Sunday, but Tua Tagovailoa already gets rid of the ball very quickly and has thrown six touchdowns to only one interception when he gets the ball out in under 2.5 seconds this season. That should help against the Giants, who blitz at one of the highest clips in the league. With speed all over the field in Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert, Tagovailoa will have no shortage of weapons to carve up this Giants defense—especially an inexperienced secondary. 

Defensive touchdowns aren’t out of the question, either, given the staggering amount of injuries New York is dealing with on their offensive line. In my “Picks For Every Game” video that was released on Wednesday we talked about grabbing the Dolphins at -10.5 and this has since moved to -12.5 at a lot of books. I’d rather attack the Dolphins’ team total at 30.5 points on a day where they should be able to score at will.
